FAQ
Before you reach out
These are the questions people usually ask before they reach out.
If dementia has made home life confusing, you’re not alone — and you don’t need perfect words.
Read through, then book a free intro call if you want to talk it through calmly.
Who is a dementia coach?
A dementia coach is a calm, practical guide for the home-life side of dementia.
Just like people hire a finance coach when money feels chaotic, or a life coach when life feels messy, families hire a dementia coach when dementia has turned daily life upside down and they need direction.
I don’t replace doctors or social services. I help with the real, everyday stuff:
making sense of early changes
reducing arguments and constant correcting
improving communication so your loved one feels safe, not tested
building routines that make the day easier
supporting the caregiver so you don’t burn out quietly
working out the next practical steps
Think: less panic, more plan. Less theory, more “what do I do today?”
Do I need a diagnosis to work with you?
No. If something feels “off” at home and you’re trying to make sense of changes, you’re welcome here.
Many families contact me before a diagnosis — when they’re not sure if it’s normal ageing, stress, early dementia, or something in-between.
We focus on what you’re actually seeing day to day, how it’s affecting the household, and what practical steps will reduce stress while you figure things out.
What happens on the Free Intro Call?
You tell me what’s been happening at home and what’s hardest right now.
I’ll ask a few gentle questions to understand the situation properly.
Then I’ll tell you what support options fit — coaching, practical guidance, or something else — and you decide.
No pressure. No awkward sales chat. Just clarity.
What can coaching help with?
Coaching helps when home life is getting tense, confusing, or emotionally heavy and you need a calmer plan.
- Families usually come to me for help with:
- repeated questions and frustration
- arguments caused by correcting or “proving a point”
- changes in mood, confidence, or personality
- confusion about time, money, or daily tasks
- creating routines that reduce stress
- communication that keeps dignity intact
We focus on what’s happening in your real home — and what will make tomorrow easier.
Is this medical advice?
No. I offer practical, supportive guidance from lived experience. I don’t diagnose, prescribe, or give medical instructions.
If you want an assessment, medication advice, or medical investigation, your GP/memory clinic is the right route. I can still support you alongside that — especially with communication, routines, and coping at home.
Do you offer in-person support everywhere in the UK?
It depends on your location and my availability.
The quickest way to find out is to book the free intro call and tell me:
- your area (town/city is enough)
- what kind of support you want (respite / hands-on care / coaching)
- your dates (if it’s respite)
If in-person isn’t possible, online support is still available.
How do I know if you’re the right fit for us?
If you want calm, practical support without judgement or fear-mongering, we’ll usually get on well.
The free intro call is there to check fit. You’ll leave with more clarity either way
What should I write in the contact form (or say on the call)?
Just tell me:
- what you’ve noticed
- what’s hardest right now
- what you’re worried about
- what kind of support you think you need (if you know)
No perfect wording needed.
